New in 2021: "Law and Gospel" Song
Saint/Sinner/Singer/Songwriter

Writing songs on guitar is one of my hobbies. Here are a few such numbers:
1. My brother Marcus and I wrote this song, called "God Works." Yes, it contains the phrase "cosmic love enfolding." If you'd like to use it for personal or churchy purposes (with attribution, all rights reserved), please let me know via the contact form in About Me. Music for it--lyrics, melody, and chords--is available here. |
2. For evening entertainment with Wartburg Seminary's board of directors, I was asked to play guitar and to give a talk on Luther & beer. I combined the assignment into a single well-researched, footnoted, and folksy song on Luther & beer. I've given it the snappy title: "Historical Essay on Martin Luther and Beer, in the Style of a Folk Song"
3. Here's a song about the Book of Concord--Lutheran writings of the 16th century--called "Book of Harmony." Even for a theologian, it's pretty nerdy.

4. Slighty funkier nerdiness? Check out "Luther Being Luther." Full lyrics are included below the video.
5. In the style of Bruce Springsteen, a song about the professorial working life called "Books and Lunch Pails." Video below.
