The Luther Congress concluded with a festive banquet in the courtyard of the Lutherhaus. We also enjoyed after-hours access to the museum and the special exhibits. I took advantage of an offer by the current president of the society to get a private tour of the exhibit. It made for a very nice day and evening.
What did I learn this week? First, I met great people, old and new friends. Second, I was inspired to continue to learn new things in my research, holding myself to high standards. Third, I want my field of history and theology to continue to grow as an international field, learning from people around the world.
Finally, I turned 40 years old on midnight after the conference. I celebrated with fellow historians at the wine festival that was taking place. My birthday resolution is to spend the next 40 years (God willing) helping leave the world better than I found it. I like that goal. What will people say about us all in 40 years? Or 500 years? Peace
